BrightSpring’s VP of Enterprise Talent Operations Maria Schaefer was nominated by the American Heart Association (AHA) for their Woman of Impact campaign to raise much-needed funds to improve the health of our communities. Woman of Impact are a team of changemakers who seek to encourage and empower women and their families to lead healthier lives and transform communities by preventing heart disease and stroke.
“The issue of heart health for women is deeply personal for me. I was born with a hole in my heart and spent most of my childhood years going in and out of hospitals,” said Maria. “Thankfully, with modern medicine and my parents’ determination to nurse me to health, my heart healed, and I have been able to live well into adulthood. I am aware that my heart’s complications can return anytime, so I am committed to treating each day as a blessing and not taking life and health for granted.”
