BrightSpring’s Chief Medical Officer, Primary Care, Receives AMDA William Dodd Founder’s Award for Distinguished Service

BrightSpring Health Services / March 9, 2023

BrightSpring congratulates Chief Medical Officer, Primary Care, Dr. Arif Nazir, for receiving the prestigious 2023 AMDA William Dodd Founders Award for Distinguished Service. The award recognizes significant contributions by those individuals who build the organizational strength, image, and mission of AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine. They promote medical direction and healthcare provider services in long-term care by enhancing the reputation of AMDA and advancing the organization’s goals to improve the care delivered to patients throughout the long-term care continuum.

“I don’t think there is another award I would be more honored to receive,” said Dr. Nazir. “It’s the greatest honor of my life.”

Dr. Nazir is a past president of AMDA and has served on and chaired several other AMDA committees. He was one of the drivers behind the AMDA Shark Tank program and one of the founders of the popular AMDA On-the-Go podcast program. Deprescribing has long been his priority, and he broadened his efforts nationally with the AMDA Drive to Deprescribe program.

The award was created in memory of the work of AMDA founder William Dodd, MD, CMD. He recognized that residents of nursing homes often have complex medical problems and that practitioners needed to establish the standards of management and clinical care for these residents.
