Doug’s Story

Community and Rehab Care - Community Living / February 3, 2025

Doug Reed’s legacy at ResCare is one of perseverance, dedication, and personal growth. After eight months of hard work, studying with staff, friends, and family, Doug officially earned his driver’s license – a remarkable achievement that showcases his commitment to achieving his goals.

Throughout his journey, Doug has demonstrated a deep eagerness to learn, asking staff insightful questions during outings, such as how to determine when to drive and what to check for while on the road. His excitement and determination were truly inspiring to those around him.

Once Doug obtained his license, he used his SSI money to purchase a truck from his dad, a symbol of his independence and personal accomplishment. The staff supported him in washing his truck, and Doug was incredibly proud of what he had achieved. Now, Doug is focused on pursuing a job to cover the costs of gas and insurance for his truck, continuing his journey toward independence and self-sufficiency.

Doug’s legacy is one of resilience and motivation. He has not only shown immense personal growth but has also inspired everyone around him to reach for their goals, no matter the obstacles. His journey serves as a reminder of the power of determination and the importance of having a supportive community to help guide and encourage success.
