Today we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s immeasurable accomplishments and contributions for American society and the Civil Rights Movement. In 1963, Dr. King delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial in our nation’s capital. 55 years later, we are still commemorating his achievements and celebrating his life and legacy. His courageous leadership and vision for freedom, peace and equality have helped shape our country into what it is today.
In Charlotte, NC a ResCare Workforce Services team of career advisers helped students participate in a local news station’s community engagement program. They learned about television production, career possibilities and skills for success, such as interviewing techniques, problem-solving and public speaking. The students put these skills to use by researching, writing and recording their own “I Have a Dream” speeches. Below are some of the outstanding speeches that were posted on YouTube by PBS Charlotte.
As you celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, take a moment to think about how you can follow his example. Remember, the choices we make today will impact someone else tomorrow.
