Haven Hospice – Chiefland Team

The Way We Lead / June 5, 2025

Haven Hospice’s Chiefland Team has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Gainesville, FL.

The Chiefland team recently won the Synergy Award at the Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association (FHPCA) Awards of Excellence. They were recognized as a group that has consistently demonstrated the ideals of collaboration and teamwork in working toward a goal or mission for their outstanding service in the wake of widespread hurricane destruction. Executive Director Brigid Doherty accepted the award on the team’s behalf.

Hurricanes Debby, Milton, and Helene wreaked havoc in the Big Bend area of Florida last year. The Chiefland team endured unprecedented challenges amid the devastation in the tri-county service area, a rural, high-need community. Despite widespread destruction, they demonstrated extraordinary resilience, going far beyond their traditional hospice roles to help provide critical relief efforts.

The team’s leadership and dedication were evident at every level. Jennifer Davis, Director of Clinical Operations, embodied the spirit of hospice service by continuing to participate in relief efforts despite her own home having been badly damaged. She volunteered at relief centers to distribute supplies to hurricane victims. Jaime Hinote, Patient Care Representative, was also instrumental in these outreach efforts, working closely with clinical and business development teams to connect Haven’s patients and families with vital resources. Their ability to unite, collaborate, and serve during a time of crisis not only strengthened the community, but also reinforced the mission and values of hospice care.

Congratulations, Chiefland Team! You Get Going and know your business, stepping up to provide critical assistance in a time of need. Thank you for going above and beyond to help your community so that the people around you can live their best lives.

WORK SMART. DO GOOD.
