Marlena Burkhead started Working Smart and Doing Good as a Nurse Practitioner with SHC Medical Partners in Hodgenville, KY in May 2021.
Marlena graduated with a doctorate in Nursing Practice from Western Kentucky University. She has been a Registered Nurse for nine years, and a Family Nurse Practitioner for three. Marlena says she loves “working with geriatric patients in long-term care where [she] can really get to know them and hear their life stories.”
Marlena’s knowledge and guidance also helped with the opening of the COVID-19 unit at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. Their Director of Nursing Sandy Froggett describes Marlena as “a genuine, compassionate practitioner,” adding that “she is easy to collaborate with and a true asset.”
Marlena believes it is important to “provide a holistic approach to not only patients, but their families and communities.” She is honored to work in a profession where she can make a difference in the lives of others on a daily basis.
