As we near the end of Care Workers Recognition Month, we recognize Rehab Without Walls Direct Support Professional Jennifer Houle, who has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Ontario, Canada.
Jennifer is a winner of the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) 2023 International DSP of the Year Awards. In her 17 years with Rehab Without Walls, Jennifer has continued to promote the personal well-being of the individuals she supports with respect and care.
Jennifer has demonstrated her commitment to the people she supports by learning their interests, helping them achieve their goals, and encouraging familial relationships. Last year, she accompanied an individual on a multi-day visit home so that he could attend his sister’s wedding. This client was very excited to be part of a special event and spend time with his family members, some of whom he had not seen in years. Jennifer recognizes how certain activities can be engaging, assisting in cognitive treatment progress while providing a meaningful activity to enrich their lives.
