Rehab Without Walls – Mandi Waters and Lori Fortuna

The Way We Lead / August 5, 2025

Rehab Without Walls (RWW) Occupational Therapist Mandi Waters and Physical Therapy Assistant Lori Fortuna have been Working Smart and Doing Good in Atlanta, GA.

RWW client Alvaro was working on a ladder when it gave out and he fell from the side of the home onto his back, fracturing several vertebrae. Alvaro was also paralyzed from the waist down. Lori and Mandi began working with him soon after, helping Alvaro relearn basic skills and explore an adaptive lifestyle.

Lori and Mandi took a goal-oriented approach to Alvaro’s therapy. Within one year, he had made significant progress and set new objectives of learning how to drive, getting his license, and continuing to study English. He started volunteering as peer support for other Spanish-speaking spinal cord injury survivors. He can navigate his home independently and attend public outings. Alvaro is recognized by his team as a testament that even in the hardest falls, there is the potential to rise stronger, wiser, and with a renewed purpose.

Thank you, Lori and Mandi. You demonstrate a positive Attitude and see the possibilities in those you support. By prioritizing progress and celebrating success, you ensured Alvaro is able to live his best life.

WORK SMART. DO GOOD.
