The Way We Lead / January 22, 2026
ResCare Community Living Area Supervisor Chris Gray and Program Manager Crystal Smith have been Working Smart and Doing Good in New Albany, IN.
When client Cody Burke, a lifelong Indiana University (IU) fan, asked if he could attend the 2026 Peach Bowl just 36 hours before kickoff, most people would have said it was impossible. Chris and Crystal, both Hoosier fans themselves, saw an opportunity to turn a dream into reality. They mapped out the six-hour drive from Indiana to Georgia, coordinated schedules, and took turns driving to make sure the trip was safe, smooth, and successful.
Cody quickly made new friends in the stands and cheered nonstop as Indiana took control of the game from the very first play. He even FaceTimed Executive Director Mark Slaughter several times, knowing he’s a University of Kentucky fan, just to remind him how much better IU was and encourage him to “join the winning side.” Seeing the absolute joy this experience brought him made it all worthwhile, and thanks to Crystal and Chris’s efforts, Cody now has a lifelong memory of an incredible game and an unforgettable experience.
Chris and Crystal, you see the possibilities through your positive Attitude, going above and beyond to help those you support reach their goals. Thank you for all that you do to ensure others can live their best lives.
WORK SMART. DO GOOD.
