ResCare Community Living Site Supervisor Latashia Morgan has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Lafayette, LA.
In her 13 years working in a direct support capacity, Latashia has demonstrated commitment to meeting the needs of each individual. She works hard to make sure all clients are equipped with the tools required to reach their goals. Latashia also stresses the importance of promoting independence and providing focused and compassionate care.
Latashia is always alert when working, paying close attention to the safety and well-being of the clients. On one occasion, she was helping the individuals into a van when she noticed that one had put the seatbelt around his neck. Because he was moving back and forth, the seatbelt locked into place, which led to him being choked. Latashia jumped into action, grabbing scissors off the desk in a nearby office and cutting the belt from his neck. The client was not injured thanks to Latashia’s attention to her surroundings and her quick actions.
