Community Living Residential Manager Rolando Ruiz is Working Smart and Doing Good in Arroyo Grande, California. Rolando was recognized as a LEGACY of Care award winner during the 2022 Enterprise-Wide Virtual Leadership Awards Celebration.
Rolando was hired as a direct support professional in July 2010 and was promoted to residential manager because of his attention to detail and natural Leadership abilities. During his tenure, he has transformed Magnolia House into a home his clients are proud to call their own. A champion of do-it-yourself projects, he completely redecorated the home’s interior, painting and accessorizing each client’s bedrooms according to their preferences. After witnessing an individual struggle to navigate the yard’s terrain, he Got Going! and renovated the home’s exterior as well. He added pavers and fencing to aid in accessibility and installed landscaping details that make the space feel peaceful and serene.
“He has created a beautiful, relaxing home that is the envy of the neighborhood!” said Executive Director Michelle Payne. “Rolando involved his clients in all of the redesign aspects, and they feel a sense of pride in their home. He demonstrates an exceptional level of respect for the individuals he supports and sets that expectation for his team to follow.”
