ResCare Community Living Direct Support Lead Thomas Crowe-Nance has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Jeffersonville, IN.
When Tom stepped into his role, the men in his home were hesitant to leave the house. Outings felt overwhelming and community life seemed out of reach. Tom saw their potential and, through patience and gentle encouragement, turned hesitation into confidence. In just over two years, the same men who once resisted stepping outside now look forward to walking across the Jeffersonville Bridge, laughing at the water park and pushing a grocery cart with pride.
Tom also advocated for tools that help his clients find their voices. One man who struggled to communicate now uses a personalized iPad that Tom worked to secure and customize. For the first time, he can share his thoughts, feelings and dreams with a sense of independence that had once felt impossible. Each milestone reflects Tom’s deeply person-centered approach. He doesn’t just provide care; he listens, empowers and helps clients uncover strengths and aspirations they never knew they had.
