ResCare Community Living Direct Support Professional Wylene Calhoun has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Lithonia, GA.
One individual Wylene supports has little family connection as their parents are deceased. Wylene has taken it upon herself to ensure this client has a birthday party every year, going as far as to invite those at other group homes to help celebrate. For those who do have family members involved in their care, Wylene regularly communicates updates about their activities and appointments. When they visit, the families are often impressed by the high level of care Wylene provides.
Wylene goes above and beyond to show both clients and her peers that they can depend on her in any situation. For those she supports who have an interest in dating, Wylene will prioritize their safety and comfort during the experience by hosting a brunch herself. She will cook, set the table with flowers, and play the music of the client’s choice to make the date special for them.
