StepStone Family & Youth Services of West Virginia held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 26th to celebrate the opening of its new office in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
StepStone Program Manager Anjellica Scott said the new location will enable them to expand their services. “We’ve been providing services in Harrison County for the last ten years, and now we’re expanding our services to make sure that we’re able to serve all children, no matter where they’re at in their life, to make sure that they have safe, successful homes,” said Scott.
Heidi Richmond, a licensing specialist with StepStone, says there’s always a need for foster parents. “We have, you know, as many as 6,000 kids in the foster care system at any time, but we only have like 1400 homes, so we need more homes that can serve these kids that need foster care,” Richmond said. She stated that, though the goal of fostering is always reunification with biological parents, the organization also aids in adoption.
With over 10 years of service to Bridgeport and surrounding communities, StepStone is proud to offer a continuum of care for children and families, including family preservation services, as well as creating safe and nurturing homes through foster care and adoption services.
