Recently, ResCare team members from Community Alternatives Kentucky (CAKY) in Owensboro, Kentucky, helped an individual live his best life.
For the past decade, Brandon worked at a sheltered workshop. Sheltered workshops offer employment to individuals with disabilities, paying well below minimum wage.
The CAKY team saw Brandon’s potential and contacted a local organization that specializes in placing individuals with intellectual disabilities in positions within local businesses and industries and coached Brandon through the process.
After he completed a four-phase placement program, Brandon was hired as a “Strapper” at a workwear and textile service company. In his role, he bundles uniforms together and conducts a final quality check.
“I am very proud of Brandon,” his father said. “He is living proof that life can be good.”
