ResCare Community Living Direct Support Lead Geraldo Desir has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Mount Laurel, NJ.
As a Direct Support Lead, Geraldo provides leadership and direction for nearly 50 clients. He specializes in community events, organizing them as well as preparing his individuals for the outings. He regularly contacts his supervisor to suggest new and exciting ideas for community integration that he develops after bonding with the clients.
One new event Geraldo spearheaded was a prom. He was instrumental in ensuring the event would be safe for the individuals while working as both the DJ and photographer.
Geraldo is known to provide one-one-one guidance to individuals who present challenging behaviors. He took one client on more outings and began spending more time with him to earn his trust. After this focused attention, the client began seeking ways to assist others and learn new skills. His challenging behaviors decreased, and he began to thrive.
Geraldo, your use of Communication to provide high-quality support to a large number of individuals is commendable. You make sure everyone is in the know and that each of your clients feel valued and heard. Thank you for helping others live their best lives.
