ResCare Community Living Direct Support Lead Jordn Rutletge has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Dawson Springs, KY.
Jordn consistently promotes person-centered planning by actively involving clients in setting their own goals and making meaningful choices about their lives. She has thoughtful conversations with each person, asking them what they want to achieve. When one of her clients expressed a desire to become more independent with personal hygiene, Jordn worked with him daily, helping him develop a consistent, reliable routine that supported his dignity while gradually increasing his independence. As a result, the individual’s confidence was boosted, and his overall sense of well-being improved.
In another case, Jordn supported a client who wanted to start cooking simple meals. Rather than taking over the task, she broke it down into small, manageable steps and provided guidance only when needed, allowing the client to take the lead. Over time, the person learned to prepare breakfast independently – a goal they were proud to achieve. Jordn doesn’t just follow a care plan, she co-creates it with those she supports, ensuring their voice is at the center.
