Crystal is a passionate and inspiring direct support professional (DSP) with ResCare Community Living in Logan, West Virginia. Crystal won her LEGACY of Care Award in the “G – Get Going!” category.
Crystal was a winner in the G – Get Going! category because she “knows her business” when it comes to her role as a DSP. She pays close attention to individualized program plans as they are adjusted and ensures her co-workers understand the changes and implement them correctly. Crystal’s also a huge advocate for the individuals she serves and goes out of her way to find events or activities that spark their interests. For example, one individual expressed her interest in getting a job, so Crystal immediately jumped into action. She acted as a connection between the individual and management to ensure the individual secured the position – which the individual earned and enjoys greatly!
Crystal also organized a group trip to the West Virginia state fair. One individual was a huge fan of the band performing that day, so Crystal Got Going! to ensure that person could attend the concert. Not only was she able to make sure the individual attended the concert, she also worked with the case manager and got VIP tickets! The individual got to meet all the band members, in addition to attending the concert (and having a great time). It was a day the individual will never forget.
