ResCare Community Living Site Supervisor Otisha Hart, LPN Stacey Stafford, Area Supervisor Rose Lowe, and QIDP Cheri Breland have been Working Smart and Doing Good in Mandeville, LA.
Through October 15, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Two and a half years ago, Otisha, Rose, and Cheri began helping their client, Karla, with her journey towards becoming a U.S. citizen. The team, in collaboration with Karla’s Aunt Diana and Uncle Nick, all worked hard to assist Karla in meeting this important goal.
Karla immigrated to the United States from Nicaragua when she was 17 years old. She lived with her aunt in New Orleans when she first arrived until she moved into ResCare’s May Street community home in Franklinton, LA. She has lived and worked in this city since 2016.
Even though Karla is proud of her Nicaraguan heritage, she wanted to become a U.S. citizen because she feels it is the land of opportunity. To help Karla, the team accompanied her on numerous 138-mile round trips to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in New Orleans. After her eligibility was determined, they assisted her with paperwork and preparing for her citizenship interview. Otisha, Rose, Cheri, and Stacey all joined Karla when she accomplished her dream and took her Oath of Allegiance to become a citizen.
Otisha, Rose, Cheri, and Stacey, thank you for going above and beyond to help Karla throughout her journey. Your team’s positive Attitude and consistent encouragement assisted Karla in achieving her goals and living her best life.
WORK SMART. DO GOOD.
