ResCare Community Living Direct Support Professional Shannon Neece has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Bluefield, WV.
Shannon won the 2024 ANCOR DSP of the Year Award for West Virginia. Shannon loves her job and is recognized as a patient person who goes above and beyond to provide emotional and physical support to her individuals.
One of the clients Shannon has had a profound impact on is Donald. She taught him to wash his dishes and clothes and clean up after himself. Shannon takes Donald to socialize with his neighbors and about a year ago, he developed a close relationship with a female friend. Shannon provided encouragement when Donald took her on dates and helped him choose gifts for her on special holidays.
Shannon demonstrates leadership qualities and approaches her work with a positive attitude, even when faced with difficult situations. Recently, the agency faced a hoarding situation with a client, and both Shannon and Donald volunteered to help clean the apartment. Shannon leads by example, helping wherever she is needed and encouraging Donald to do the same.
