ResCare Community Living Area Supervisor Kourtney Bruton has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Mount Orab, OH.
Kourtney sets an example for her staff and peers by ensuring those she supports are living the lives they want. She involves them in doing their own shopping, joining local sport teams, attending their local church, and taking vacations. She has accompanied individuals to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Florida, Disney, Gatlinburg, and many other destinations of their choice.
Last month, Kourtney took eight clients from four of her waiver homes to Myrtle Beach, SC. Most of these individuals had never been to the beach before, and they were able to experience the ocean for the first time. Kourtney made sure that those who are non-ambulatory could also enjoy the experience by renting adaptable beach chairs. This allowed staff to take them to the beach, enjoying walks along the shore and waves from the ocean.
