Hospice of North Alabama – Todd Oldham

The Way We Lead / January 25, 2024

Hospice of North Alabama Chaplain Todd Oldham has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Huntsville, AL.

Todd uses his role as chaplain to identify opportunities for leadership daily. He volunteers as an on-call chaplain for a local hospital, making himself available to families who have lost a loved one outside of his typical work environment.

Todd also leads monthly Bible studies for residents at multiple skilled nursing facilities and carves out time to assist the staff at those locations with an avenue for prayer and support after the loss of a resident. During COVID-19, Todd led prayers over the intercom system so that residents who were unable to attend church or have visitors could still participate. Respected as a leader by his team, Todd has been honored to conduct funeral services for coworkers’ family members throughout the years.

Another Hospice of North Alabama Chaplain and good friend of Todd’s, Brother Charles Maples, passed away during COVID-19. Despite the personal loss for Todd, he remained a rock for his staff, never missing an opportunity to laugh and smile while reminiscing. Brother Charles had sent out daily messages called “The Thought for the Day,” and Todd has taken on that mission since Brother Charles’ passing. This is appreciated by all staff as both a daily encouragement and reminder of Brother Charles.

Todd, thank you for your Leadership through compassion and dedication to others. A quote from Philippians in one of your “Thoughts for the Day” states, “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” Your actions show that you take this message to heart, and in doing so, help those around you to live their best lives.

WORK SMART. DO GOOD.
