The Way We Lead / September 7, 2023
Tomorrow, September 8, we recognize World Physical Therapy Day. Rehab Without Walls Physical Therapist Angela DePaola has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Biddeford, ME.
Angela’s patient, Alison, entered the Rehab Without Walls Home and Community program after experiencing a ruptured brain aneurysm in February 2023. Before her injury, Alison was active in her community and Angela focused her treatment on endurance for outings and increased capacity for involvement.
Recently, Angela and Alison attended a local community outing to go strawberry picking. This specific activity has several benefits for Alison’s recovery, including improving function for positional changes such as bending and twisting, learning energy conservation strategies like identifying the need for and knowing when to take breaks, as well as increasing her endurance for future activities.
Although there is still progress to be made, Angela’s work with Alison has helped her make significant improvements since her initial evaluation. She can now tolerate more challenging events and environments and has started to participate in outings with her son again.
Angela, thank you for creating a people-focused Environment that incorporates your clients’ normal routines into their treatment. Not only does this provide a sense of comfort and familiarity, but it personalizes your care and helps your patients live their best lives.
WORK SMART. DO GOOD.
