Rehab Without Walls (RWW) Lead Therapist Raquel Currah, Physical Therapist Peggy Pfaff, Physical Therapist Renae DeAngelis, and Occupational Therapist Veronica Corrin have been Working Smart and Doing Good in Houston, TX.
In 2020, this group of therapists from the Texas Home and Community locations attended a yoga teacher training course for brain injury survivors. Inspired by what they learned, they created Yoga Without Walls, a curriculum that helped reestablish community connections during the pandemic and is continuing to thrive more than four years since its inception.
Yoga Without Walls is a virtual four-week chair/adaptive yoga program for RWW patients, their caregivers, and their therapists. The mission is to build strong bodies, resilient minds, and positive social networks for survivors and their care teams.
Each Zoom class focuses on a theme and includes breathing exercises, chair yoga, meditation, and discussion. Therapists from various disciplines are encouraged to work on relevant goals with their patients during the class, and the patients receive an email recap with videos and additional resources to further aid their recovery.
Raquel, Peggy, Renae, and Veronica, thank you for knowing your business and taking the initiative to Get Going. By prioritizing a multidisciplinary and inclusive approach to care, you have continued to provide resources to those in your organization and community that help them live their best lives.
WORK SMART. DO GOOD.
