Rehab Without Walls (RWW) Physical Therapist Spencer Thompson and Recreational Therapist Pam Egelund have been Working Smart and Doing Good in Taylorsville, UT.
Spencer and Pam recently supported a tetraplegic patient named Jeff after he sustained a workplace injury resulting in an incomplete spinal cord injury. Initially, doctors told Jeff that he would likely live in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) for the remainder of his life due to his injuries.
Jeff began working with RWW while still in the SNF. By August 2019, he moved into an independent apartment and started working with the full RWW team, including Spencer and Pam. The therapy team helped Jeff set a path for recovery, working to achieve incremental milestones over the course of four years.
Jeff is now functionally independent, living in an apartment with personal care assistance for a few hours in the morning and evening. He attends a survivor support group hosted by RWW and has tried skiing, sailing, and kayaking. At his recent discharge meeting, Jeff was proud to say that he exercised at least seven hours per week, usually by walking or cycling, and is excited to continue these activities.
Thank you, Spencer and Pam. Your work, in collaboration with others on your team, demonstrates your ability to Get Going. You know your business and see the potential in those around you, producing results that allow others to live their best lives.
WORK SMART. DO GOOD.
