ResCare Community Living Direct Support Professional Linda Lannin has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Lincoln, NE.
Linda won the 2024 ANCOR DSP of the Year Award for Nebraska. She has dedicated her life to working with people with disabilities, beginning her career as a teacher in the special education field. Linda has spent the last 30 years with ResCare Community Living, helping the individuals she supports live as independently as possible.
When one individual receiving intermittent residential services in his apartment had health issues that required hospitalization, Linda spent as much time with him as she could and communicated with his family to keep them updated. Unfortunately, his health concerns made him unable to continue to live independently. Because of the trusted relationship that Linda had built with him, she was instrumental in his transition from intermittent to 24/7 services. Recently, this client had to move to a skilled nursing facility, and again, Linda was a part of making his transition a success.
Linda can connect and communicate with each person she supports, ensuring they always have a voice. She attends the Senatorial Dinner with clients every year, speaking with Nebraska senators to promote legislation and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities and to approve increased rates for supporting individuals in services.
