Leading with Energy in Georgia
StepStone Family & Youth Services
StepStone Family & Youth Services Executive Director LaShay Wilson has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Kathleen, GA. Named Executive Director of the Year, LaShay embodies BrightSpring’s LEGACY value of Attitude, inspiring her teams to think creatively, act decisively, and keep their focus on the young people they are here to serve.
LaShay leads with an energy that is impossible to miss. She starts every meeting with a note of positivity — approaching each day with the belief that the team can do whatever is in front of them — and her enthusiasm carries into everything she does. When staff are having a hard day, she is the first to step in with a creative idea or a word of encouragement. When a foster parent needs support, she makes the call. When a case needs extra attention, she staffs it. Colleagues across Georgia describe her smile and her laugh as genuinely contagious, and her presence in every state and leadership meeting as a reminder of what this work is for.
That investment in people shows up in concrete ways. For Social Work Appreciation Month, LaShay brought staff together from multiple offices — providing recognition, food, and an in-person gathering that gave colleagues a chance to feel seen and supported as a team. It is the kind of thing she does regularly, and the kind of leadership that makes her team want to show up and give their best.
Congratulations, LaShay. Your positive Attitude — the belief that every day is a good day and that this team can do anything together — lifts the people around you and ultimately strengthens the care provided to youth and families across Georgia. Because of your leadership, your team shows up ready. And that makes all the difference.
Work Smart. Do Good.
