Nineteen Years in and Still Getting Going
Amerita Specialty Infusion Services
Clinical Pharmacist and Training Specialist Melissa Yoshikawa has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Aurora, CO. Honored with the QUALITY Award by Amerita, Melissa’s work reflects BrightSpring’s LEGACY value of Get Going — seen in the way she shows up consistently for branch teams, managers, and clinical staff across the country, never waiting to be asked and always ready to help someone find their footing.
Nineteen years into her career, Melissa has reoriented her sense of purpose. Where she once worked directly with patients, her focus now is on the people who serve them. She travels to branches, builds out clinical templates, and trains teams firsthand. She approaches each visit with an eye for what staff are missing and what would make their work easier and safer. Branch Director Kenneth Long describes her as someone who gives staff the confidence to handle what comes up, backing that confidence with specific, practical examples drawn directly from daily pharmacy work.
“When I was in a branch to train a new manager, I explained to a staff pharmacist that I had created templates for prescriptions. She had been unaware that they were available, and when she realized the time savings and clinical information they provided, she was nearly brought to tears in her relief,” said Melissa.
Melissa travels branch to branch for exactly that moment. When pharmacy teams are better equipped, patients stay safer at home — including in one case where a branch team, drawing on Melissa’s training, was able to support a patient through a difficult clinical situation and prevent a hospital visit entirely.
Congratulations, Melissa. The way you Get Going for the people you train keeps patients safe and pharmacy teams strong, no matter where they are.
Work Smart. Do Good.
